Our most popular event of the season features big money prizes, plus the opportunity to participate in our salmon conservation efforts.
Limited to only 66 rods, the Haida Gwaii Tournament offers great fishing for great prizes at great odds.
Cash prizes range from $85,000 for the largest salmon overall, $25,000 for second overall, down to $5,000 for largest daily salmon.
Plus we have over $35,000 worth of draw prizes (one for every contestant), including a return trip to Langara and a steelhead fishing trip to Kumdis River Lodge.
This event features a unique ‘tag-and-release’ format – salmon netted by contestants are passed off to officials on the water, then quickly measured, tagged, and released – so it’s also an opportunity to participate in our salmon research efforts. Each year a number of our tags are recovered, in rivers ranging from the Skeena in Northern B.C. to the Columbia in the Pacific Northwest, providing valuable data on salmon migration and growth rates.
