Greg Blackburn's Blog
Greg is an avid hunter, angler and outdoorsman. When he isn’t off in the mountains hunting sheep or chasing mule deer, he can be found enjoying the outdoors with his family fishing, hiking, skiing and canoe tripping.
Greg is also a biologist and it is no surprise with his personal passion for big game hunting, that he is tuned in on important wildlife habitat for big game species.
He looks forward to contributing to the on line blog for BC Outdoors on outdoor adventures in British Columbia. He believes in the promotion and creation of opportunities for anglers and hunters throughout the province, particularly for today’s youth.
Mike Mitchell's Blog
As editor of the oldest Hunting and fishing magazine in Western Canada I try to get out and either fish or hunt as much as I can.
With a young family outing have become less frequent but the ones we do get out on are even more rewarding as the whole family gets to experience the outdoors. I have been married to my wife Rachel since 2001 and have two, soon to be three great kids Marleigh (3), Caleb (7) and baby.
My fishing partner Caleb is just as enthusiastic if not more than I am when it comes to getting out on the water. Some of our favorite places to wet a line are the Fraser River for sturgeon and the central coast of BC for salmon.
I look forward to continuing to contribute to the rich history of BC Outdoors magazine for years to come.
Othmar Vohringer
Originally from Switzerland Othmar resided for many years in America where he developed a passion for whitetail deer and wild turkey hunting. An animal behaviorist by profession, from which he retired after a 30 years, he has an uncanny way of incorporating that specialized knowledge with his hunting savvy.
As an outdoor writer and hunting seminar speaker he passes his hunting knowledge, combined with his professional expertise, on to others. In the year 2001 Othmar founded Smart Hunting Strategies (SHS) – www.othmarvohringer.com - through which he offers his popular seminars, specialized hunting courses and consultant service for hunting strategies and hunting land assessment. As an outdoor communicator and registered C.O.R.E. Instructor he is not only passionate about hunting but the promotion and preservation of our rich and unique hunting heritage.
When Othmar is not busy writing, giving seminars or hunting he can most likely be found out in the field studying wildlife behavior, or volunteering his time to one of the many organizations he is a member of. To Othmar hunting has always been much more than just a sport. To him it’s a way of life handed down from generation to generation since the dawn of time. His exemplary dedication to the North American Hunting heritage has earned him the undivided respect from the outdoor industry and the hunting community here in Canada and America. Othmar is a pro-staff member of Heirloom Game Calls and ASAT Camouflage. To relax from his busy schedules he spends time with his Canadian wife Heidi in their Merritt home. According to Othmar, the game and fish rich Nicola-Thomson area is a piece of hunter and angler heaven.
