Thanks to all of you that have committed to providing boats to the competition sessions of the North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships that are being held on Tunkwa Lake and the Trojan Pond next month. This simply wouldn't be possible without your help and generosity!

We've got the boats covered for the sessions at the Trojan Pond (Sessions 2-5), but we're still short on boats for Day 1 on Tunkwa Lake for the Official Practice Session and Session 1. Please let me know if you have any contacts or know of any locals that might be willing to loan/supply a boat with a 9.9 or smaller motor, for the Official Practice Session and Session 1 at Tunkwa Lake on Thursday, June 20th (we'll need it just for a single day on Tunkwa Lake).

If you're able to help us, please respond here or email me at: info@innovativeflyfisher.com

Thank-you for your consideration on this matter,

Commercial salmon farm viruses are being found in our wild salmon. Anyone who has spent time on the Harrison R. from mid August on through the end of October will have probably seen dead salmon floating down the river in large numbers. A lot of these fish have not spawned and are still full of eggs or milt. We sampled 11 fish one day and 3 came back positive for European strain ISA { Infectious Salmon Anemia } and that is only one river, there are many more affected. Last September the Birkenhead R. had over a 90% pre spawn mortality for Sockeye. We all love our salmon fishing, and if we want to continue our passion we need to speak up on behalf of these fish. Dr Alexandra Morton has created a fantastic documentary posted at http://www.salmonconfidential.ca or at http//www.SalmonAreSacred.org. Please watch the film, then contact the MLAs running in your ridings to let them know that you are not happy with the way the Gov't and DFO have been mishandling this issue. Our native salmon species thank you!

Reviews and Feedback on Todd's Advanced Stillwater Strategies Seminar:

"I wanted to send my personal thanks to you for opening up a whole new window for me on stillwater strategies, trout vision and how that translates into effective patterns. It was by far the best seminar I've attended over the years with Northern Lights and elsewhere - full of information based on science, acute observation, experimentation and analysis and presented clearly and unpretentiously. It has certainly changed my approach to the sport."
Peter Little - Secretary of Northern Lights Flytyers & Trout Unlimited Edmonton

"I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation. Your use of video, showing pictures then fading for written summaries or comments was excellent. Your photos of locations, people and fish were very pertinent to your topic, and were very informative. I felt I learned a lot of new strategies. Even though we can't use dropper flies in BC, you showed ways we could adapt. Your discussions about how fish see and how to take advantage of that, connected beautifully to the topic of tying flies."
Lloyd Erickson - Nanaimo, British Columbia

"Just a quick note to thank you for the talk last Saturday. I feel it was very well received by everyone there. I have had great feed back from all who attended. The "What trout See" lecture had especially good comments."
Phil Rogers – President of Penticton Flyfishers and Secretary of BCFFF

"Again, thank you very much for the great weekend! I have received nothing but a lot of good feed back about your presentations."
Bernie Heinrichs – President of Island Waters Fly Fishing Club

"Thank-you again for the great information, I found your presentations probably the most useful out of everything presented at the symposium."
Dale Francis - Haig Brown Fly Fishing Association

"I thought your explanation in class was clear and insightful, and the on the water section was fantastic to see you in action! It was a really awesome course in terms of the historical, technical, and practical aspects."

Vancouver Outdoor Show?

Went to the Vancouver Outdoors show in Abbey on Saturday. Besides the walk in the rain and the mud, thought that it was worth my while. Met a lot of people and enjoyed looking at the displays. Did not buy much, but did get fishing ideas. Not sure why it has to cost so much. 6 bucks parking and 13 to get in, wow. Being that it is so commercial why the 13 bucks to get in, shouldn't the cost be covered by the businesses, stores, lodges etc? Malls don't charge to get in.. Overall though, a good afternoon.

Well folks it is that time when decisions have to be made and folks have to book their holidays. So after consulting Govt. websites regarding snow pack, consulting with the Global TV weather people and playing with both my crystal ball and Oiuja board the dates have been determined.

Friday July 12th through to the 15th.

The Victorian Motel and RV Park is the place to be and their phone # is 250-442-3011. Reserve early.

There will be a potluck dinner and prizes on the Saturday night and a Pancake breakfast on Sunday.

I will be working on transport/shuttles over the next little while.

For the Saturday night it would be great if everyone could bring a prize to be given away and of course we will hustle some of the local merchants as well.

Hope to see you here and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather and water gods are on our side this year.
