Continued low survival rates and low brood year escapements are considered to be causes of the low numbers of Fraser River spring Chinook expected for 2014.

Management Actions include:

  • From March 1 to June 13 in waters near Victoria  between Cadboro Point to Sheringham Point a two per day, wild or marked, 45 – 67 cm or hatchery marked over 67 cm limit on Chinook.
  • June 14 to July 18 actions are still being determined and will be announced in further Fisheries Notices.

Further notes include:

  • Barbless Hooks for salmon in tidal and non-tidal waters.
  • Release of hatchery marked sockeye.
